Hi everyone! Welcome to The Conscious Closet.
Ever since I was a little girl I loved being in nature, outside, playing with my sister, and most notably spending my time at the beach. I could spend hours playing in the ocean and the sand and soaking up all of nature's resources, and trust me, I did. Along with the absolute joys that came with living in a beach town, seeing the environmental harm done to my coveted beaches went hand in hand. In my eighteen years of living in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, I saw trash in the oceans, fish and turtles being harmed by plastics, and overall disrespect and negligence towards what I called my home. Ever since, I decided I was going to make an impact, no matter how big or small. I stopped eating meat in seventh grade, co-founded an environmental education-based club in eleventh grade, and ultimately decided to pursue a career in helping the environment. Here I am now, beginning my sophomore year of college majoring in Environmental Management.

Something that came a little bit later in life for me was my sense of style. I went through the awful middle school phases and then tried to be like everyone else for most of high school. I am not sure when, but something changed where I wanted and felt like I needed to express myself through clothing. I would call myself an artistic person, but drawing, painting, and even coloring inside the lines just was not in my skillset. I turned to fashion and clothing as my outlet and have been doing so ever since. When I really did not want to get out of bed and go to school, looking forward to putting on a cute outfit and dressing up gave me the necessary motivation. During the pandemic I was so bored I would put together outfits to show my family as one of my cures to boredom. Something else that really sparked during that time, was the rise of fast fashion companies. As a result of everyone being on their phones all the time, trends really skyrocketed through social media. Fast fashion companies monopolized this and have been doing so ever since.
My passion, my why, and what I am dedicating this blog to is simply a mix of environmental awareness while still prioritizing fashion and being stylish. Welcome, The Conscious Closet. Through this blog, I want to share sustainable style tips, my weekly outfits for inspiration, and most importantly educate people on how simple and attainable it is to have a Conscious Closet.
